Blogging in the classroom
I think that blogging can be used in a lot of different ways. I know some teachers that have started to use blogs as ways to communicate to parents what is going on in the class. I think a lot of parents are very receptive to that idea and it seems to work very well. Other teachers use a blog to have a place for students to be informed or share ideas. I know high school students can be forgetful and having a blog to remind or inform them about what went on in class the previous day could be very useful.
I'm going to continue to use my blog as the school year begins as a way to share information about the current topics we are discussing in class. I think my blog can eventually be a good place for students to not only find new information but share their own findings with the rest of the class.

Economics of a Cupcake Factory
I use a lot of Khan Academy videos in my finance and economics classes. He does a great job of explaining a variety of topics in a different way that might be more realistic for some students.

Mr. Miller's Blog
Introduction:
I am a secondary business teacher at Seward High School. I teach courses in basic computing, personal finance, business law, entrepreneurship, introduction to business, and sports marketing. I sponsor the Seward chapter of Future Business Leaders of America and am an assistant football coach and junior varsity basketball coach. I recently complete my first year at Seward High. I spent the previous four years as a teacher and coach at Fairbury Jr/Sr High School.
I would like to use this blog as a communication tool between me and my students and parents.
Education:
I graduated from Aurora High School in 2002 and went on to receive a degree in business administration with an emphasis in education from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2006. I am currently working on my masters degree in curriculum and instruction through Peru State College.
Interests:
Outside of the classroom I am a pretty big sports fan. I follow all things Cornhusker related as well as the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Royals, and Oklahoma City Thunder. I also like to read in my spare time and look forward to catching up on some books I've been wanting to read this summer.
